The strong arctic front is beginning to head south out of Canada, and is on schedule to pass through the northeast plains of Colorado between 4:00 am and 8:00 am Wednesday morning. Temperatures will drop rapidly during the day, into the teens by afternoon, and single digits by evening. Snow will also likely develop between 8:00 am and 11:00am, continuing through the afternoon and early evening.
Most likely snow accumulations by Wednesday evening:
- Boulder, Golden, Foothills, Palmer Divide: 2 - 5 inches
- Denver, Longmont, Eastern Plains: 1 - 3 inches
Snow will end Wednesday evening, with bitter cold temperatures overnight, reaching -4 to -12 F by Thursday morning.
Bitter cold continues during the day on Thursday, with high temperatures of 3 F to 8 F. Temperatures will again drop to -4 F to -12 F by Friday morning, with high temperatures on Friday warming to 15 - 20 F.
