A world we can't conceive of any more


Abe Lincoln over at Pick a Peck of Pixels has a great post describing what it was like in 1960 to work for the National Cash Register Company as a commercial artist.

... paid me to draw and they gave me a reserved parking space ... , and 3 weeks vacation each year plus paid medical, dental and hospitalization. All that plus a neat building with friends who played a crazy game of ping pong with me, each day, on our lunch hour. What else could you want?


I can't even begin to imagine a work environment like that anymore.
